According to recent reports, the entitlement class in the Great Lakes State has now eclipsed its entire population of students currently enrolled in elementary and secondary school. Compared to the nearly 1.7 million Michiganders receiving food stamps, there is a corresponding deficit of more than 115,000 among those working toward high school graduation.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) represented a staggering cost of nearly $2.6 billion in 2014 with evidence of widespread fraud throughout the program. Local reports confirm a group of individuals recently admitted their involvement in a Grand Rapids-based plot that defrauded the program out of nearly $1.3 million.
