Saying he feels “uniquely qualified” to focus on America’s future, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida has done as expected — become the third Republican to officially enter the 2016 race for president.
USA Today reports that the freshman senator shared his decision with donors during a conference call in advance of a more public announcement to be attended by supporters later today at Miami’s Freedom Tower.
“Rubio…criticized Hillary Clinton as ‘a leader from yesterday,’ the Associated Press reported.” Hillary’s official jump into the political fray on Sunday, say Rubio advisors, will help the senator frame the contest as one between a fresh face symbolizing a new generation of leadership and an old-guard figure burdened by some 20 years of political baggage and damaging scandals.
