Recently Michigan became the 34th state to call for a Constitutional Convention. Two third of the states are needed to trigger such an event. This raises some interesting questions. Some states have rescinded their requests, and some of these have reinstated them. Article V of the Constitution is not clear how to count these kinds of actions. It is also not known if the Convention could be restricted to a single issue such as the Balanced Budget Amendment. If not, forces unsympathetic to the Bill of Rights could begin a major re-write.
