Chicago’s Homicide Rate Down to a 56-Year Low After Gun Ban Overturned

Chicago was America’s murder capital in 2012. Then, in December of that year, a federal court struck down Illinois’ unconstitutional ban on concealed carry. By the first quarter of 2014, Chicago’s homicide rate had fallen to a 56-year low. The Police Department is taking credit, even though it hasn’t changed a single tactic. That’s like the National Weather and Oceanic Administration taking credit for a year with a few hurricanes. Abe Lincoln had it right when he said, “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
