One of Barack Obama’s top donors has decided Lois Lerner will not face any criminal charges for using the IRS as a political tool against conservatives.

It all came to a head today when a federal judge ruled the Department of Justice must properly respond to Freedom of Information Act requests by Judicial Watch. The private watchdog agency has been seeking documents related to the IRS scandal and the Fast and Furious alleged gunrunning operation. Unless you think it’s a coincidence, that’s why the Attorney General resigned this afternoon.
John Koskninen, who took over as IRS Commissioner after Lois Lerner resigned, used to say it could take years to provide all his predecessor’s emails to Congressional investigators. But as soon as Lerner was determined to be in contempt of Congress, the release process was fast tracked. The ex-commissioner is accused of using her official powers to harass conservative groups.
Can this fox be trusted to guard the hen house? Barack Obama has appointed a major Democratic supporter to look into discrimination against Tea Party-style organizations by the IRS. Barbara Kay Bosserman, a lawyer with Justice Department experience, was a major contributor to Obama’s 2008 and 2012 campaigns. Can somebody say “political payoff?”
